How to fill it in
- Record the date, time range, and project for each meaningful block. Leave breaks and missing time visible.
- Add a short outcome and next step. Be explicit when you investigated something without solving it.
- Review the log before using it in a client update, timesheet, or weekly report. Add any work that happened away from the screen.
Start from your actual work
On a Mac, Dayflow can help you remember the work behind the update. It drafts a timeline from screen activity. Export a date range as Markdown from Settings → Export. Review that record alongside your calendar and task tracker, then fill in the template above.
For a guided walkthrough, see exporting your work history or drafting a report with Claude Code. Check the assistant's draft before sending it.
Local AI keeps screenshot analysis on-device. Your own cloud provider or Dayflow Pro processes selected screenshots off-device. An assistant can receive the Dayflow data it retrieves in your conversation. Local storage does not make a cloud assistant conversation local. Read the data-flow guide before choosing a workflow.
Questions about this template
What should a daily work log include?
Include the date, a time range, the task, what changed, and the next step. If you need a billing record, also follow your client’s rules for rounding, approvals, and billable time.
Is this a timesheet?
It is a personal activity log. It can help you prepare a timesheet, but it does not calculate payroll, approve hours, or establish that every recorded minute is billable.
Can I keep a work log automatically?
Dayflow can draft a timeline from screen activity on a Mac. Review its summaries, correct mistakes, and add offline work before treating the log as a record of completed tasks.
Use the right format for the next step
- Weekly status report for a concise progress update.
- Daily work log for a record you can come back to.
